Last Saturday night I watched this Lifetime movie called the Pregnancy Pact. In this movie, a bunch of friends made a pact to all become pregnant at the same time, in which all the girls eventually all became pregnant at the same time. The Pregnancy Pact was based of real life events that unfold last year at a Massachusetts high school. Now the pact was stupid and so were the girls. Before getting pregnant, all these girl had no idea what it takes to raise a child. A child is nothing fun to play with. They cost money. They keep you up all night, and cry, and poop. I don’t have children, but trust me- I have lots of younger cousins who I have baby sitted extensively- and I know how much hard it is to raise them, even with both parents around and having the money to raise them.
Back to these girls, while watching this movie it got me thinking. Today’s teenagers are growing up way before their time. Case in point- when I was in junior high school I noticed that there were a lot of 13 and 14 year old girls walking around pregnant. Like seriously. What the fuck is going on? These young girls today need to focus on getting an education and less on opening their legs and getting pregnant. Statistics are right: when woman have children young, it is less likely that they will finish school. It makes me sad to see such bright potential go to waste and these girls ending up on welfare. My 13 year old brother told me about this other 13 year old he know who is already having sex. REALLY??? When I was 13, the only thing I was worrying about was if that boy like me or not, or what I was going to wear the next day.
Children are growing up way before their times. You have young girls wanting to get plastic surgery at 15. Boys who feel the need that going to college (or even high school) a virgin makes them losers. Kids that start smoking, drinking, or even doing drugs in elementary school. Don’t get me started on the 7 year olds who have iPhones or Ipods – that’s another topic for another day. It just seems like kids don’t want to be kids these days. What’s going on? What happen to the days when girls played with barbies and boys played with cars and GI Joes? Long gone are those days. Now it’s kids dancing to music, when they don’t know what the meaning actually mean (Miley Cyrus’s baby sister dancing to smack that and pole dancing). If only kids would go back to being innocent, good little one. Guess that will never be.

“Believe everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go; things go wrong so you can appreciate them when they’re right. You believe lies so you can eventually learn to trust no one but yourself and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.” -Marilyn Monroe
In the last two weeks two people I went to high school have died. It’s sad to see two young men taken away, so young. But they say the good dies young. And God needed them more.
I was buying some textbooks with my friend when he got a phone call saying he just died. I thought in a blink of an eye, life can be taken away. Just like that, with the snap of a finger. I went on Facebook, and all I see is RIP statuses. He will truly be missed. And my heart and prayers goes out to his family and friends.
It just goes to goes to show us that tomorrow is never guaranteed. Live your life as it is your last day. Don’t hold grudges. Love your friends and family, and let them know you love them. Don’t put off stuff that you can do today until tomorrow. Life is too short.
That’s all I have to say.

Today was the first day of spring semester. I love my classes so far. I’m so excited for this semester. I know it will be a great one.
As a kid, the best movies ever made were the classic Disney animated films. They were all I would ever watch. Today, Disney does not make quality movies like they did in the early 1990s. Trust, it’s true and you know it. I present you with my top 10 Disney movies that made my childhood worth while:
The Lion King
The Lion King is a coming of age of Simba- a lion cub [for those who never heard of the Lion King. If you haven't heard of this movie, where have you been living at?] and his struggle to deal with the death of his father Mufasa by his uncle Scar. He leaves his home of Pride Rock and wonders into the desert where he is taken in my Timon and Pumba. Living with Timon and Pumba made him a better lion, when he goes back to Pride Rock and takes back what is rightfully his. To everyone’s surprise, Simba is alive and well- Scar- er, well he just loses.
What now Scar? Jealousy is not a good thing, is it?
I can watch this movie all day. It never gets old. The Lion King has all the makings of a great movie. The songs that stays with you long after the movie is over with: “The Circle if Life”, “Hakuna Matata”, and “Can You Feel the Love Tonight”. Memorable characters: Timon and Pumba, Scar, Rafiki, Simba, Nala, Mufasa, and the hyenas. And a lesson that everyone can learn from. This movie has something for everyone of all agaes: comedy, romance, action, and the animation. Plus the Lion King won a bunch of awards: Oscars, Grammy, VMA, and the list goes on. What’s not to like about this movie?

On January 15th (last Friday), would have been Martin Luther King Jr’s 81 birthday. Every year in honor of his accomplishments and birthday, we get a day off from school and work. His birthday is not just a day we celebrate because we get a day off from school or work, but because of the great strides he helped to make for many people and the course of history.
Since the 1960s, this country has come a long way. From integrating schools, to getting rid of segregation to electing a black man as president, MLK dream has been seen and has come true. I bet if he was around to see people of different back grounds coming together, we would probably cry.
Here’s to you Dr. King. I thank you for risking your life to fight for the injustices of those who were treated unfairly. I thank you for opening doors for the minorities in this country. I thank you for believing in your dream- even if you never got to live to see the outcome. Because of your hard work and dedication: I can live in a country where I get the same opportunities as the majority. I can go to school and get an education. I can get a job and live in a great neighborhood and give my future kids a life they deserve. From the bottom of my heart I thank you. I thank you so much.
From the 1700s to now, we have come a long way. But we still have a longer way to go.
Here’s to you, Dr. Martin Luther King.

I met a boy. I’ll call him The Boy- well actually I have known him for about 2 years or so. I hope this goes somewhere.
There I said it. After 2 weeks, I finally get to see him today.
//EDIT//:
Today was my last day of work until the summer, and before The Boy got off, he came up to me and said I’ll see you over the summer I guess.
And that got to me. Timing has never been on my side for anything. I live here but go to school three hours away and come home from time to time on random weekends. But The Boy lives here, works here, and goes to school here. So almost immediately, any relationship with him will be a long distance relationship (except in the summer). I could not stand to be in a long distance relationship. I rather see the person face to face. Oh sure texting get the job done, but can a person really have a quality conversation via texting? Oh, and talking on the phone is not the same as face to face conversation (I guess that what Skype is for). AH! i just hate this long distance shit. But distance make the heart grow fonder- I think that’s how it goes. But in reality- if anything does happen, I’m guessing any possible relationship will be long distance will only be for a year until I graduate and move back home and get a real job (that’s if I get a job here or what if I get a job in another city and in another state?). If it’s meant to be, God will find a way for us to be together. Right?

Chasing after my dreams
My school has this program where they get employers to let students follow them around for a day to see what it will be like in a day of their future careers. I was lucky enough to get matched up with a VP at an advertising company in town.
Last Tuesday I got to following him around, and join him in on his meetings and he gave me advice on working in advertising. I must say, being able to follow him around for a day, only made me 100% sure that going into marketing/advertising was the right decision I ever made. I’m even more excited for next year to get here so I can graduate and start my career. It’s almost here.
But you know, how did I ever want to get into marketing/advertising, you ask? Well it is quite simple:
Growing up, I always wanted to be a marine biologist. I wanted to study ocean life anywhere from the Great Barrier Reef off the coast of Australia to studying marine life in the Caribbean. By the time I was twelve, I had already had my list of choices of schools I wanted to attend: University of Miami and University of California San Diego since they had the Scripps Institution of Oceanography. As I got older and got into middle school, I realize that I hated math and science classes. In college those would be the classes I would be taking. So marine biology and I parted ways. Did I mention I cannot swim? So double wammy.
My aunt got the movie What Woman Want [with Mel Gibson and Helen Hunt] and I sat down and watched it with her. While watching the movie, I became really interested in the career that these two people had and I wanted a career in advertising. And the rest is history. All it took was a movie for me to realize my career ambitions.
So excited for next year.

I was recently looking back at my myspace (no one uses myspace anymore, but I look on there to remember some good times) and I came across this blog I wrote after seeing 27 Dresses at the movies. This was written February 0f 2008. Haha, old.
So I just saw 27 Dresses. It was really a cute movie. Really good. But this movie really me think about something. So this is not clear, kind of confusing, but I’ll fix it when I figure what the hell I trying to say. OKAY!
It was the end part of the movie when Corinne Bailey Rae’s song “Like A Star” started playing. Here’s a girl, Jane, who spends her time always being a bridesmaid and never a bride instead of find herself a man who she can makes her happy. Jane’s little sister comes and steal away the man she is in love with and gets engaged to him. Jane says nothing or does nothing. Here comes a guy, Kevin, who come and make her see herself as a pushover. Well the movie goes on………….
But what I’m trying to say and I know this is very cliché is, even has hard as it is, if you want somebody, go after them. Do not wait for them to make a move. Go head and make first move. Even if you get turned down- – at least you tried? Right? You don’t wanna see them happy with someone else, when the whole time you wanted them to be yours. You don’t wanna be saying what if, what the hell didn’t I do anything. Trust me, it’s not cool. So go out to bag the guy or gal you want before they get snatched up. It’s worth the risk to take. Who know, they may be the one.
If only I can take my own advice. But I have too. I’m tired of this game, it’s time to step my game up. Wish me luck.
//Edit// 3.2.08
So last week umm… yah I know what happened and with who. It was good. Hehe. picture do justice guys. But last week got me thinking, backburner or push ahead? Something is telling me to push ahead. But not all signs are clear yet. I don’t wanna do something that is going to make everything awkard and uncomfortable especially when he’s in my class in a really good friend. Why can’t this shit be easy. Damn.
Needless to say, this never went anywhere.
He went to a different school. And lives a few hours away.
Oh wells.
